The storm of the US Capitol by Trump supporters has devastating consequences – four people are killed and dozen injured. The police also found several explosive devices among the protesters.

According to the police, four people were killed in the rioting of supporters of the elected US President Donald Trump at the US Capitol. A woman was shot by a police officer in the congress building on Wednesday (local time) and later died in the hospital, said the chief of police in the US capital, Robert Contee. "In addition, three more deaths in the area around the Capitol were reported today. An adult woman and two adult men appear to have suffered different medical emergencies that resulted in their deaths."

Contee did not provide any information about who the woman was who was shot in the Capitol. "This is a tragic incident and I extend my condolences to the family and friends of the victim," he said. The incident is being investigated internally by the police. It also remained unclear which medical emergencies were involved. Contee said at least 14 police officers were injured in the clashes, two of them seriously. One of the seriously injured was pulled into the crowd by demonstrators and attacked there. The second suffered significant facial injuries when he was hit by a projectile.

Washington's chief of police also confirmed the discovery of two pipe bombs. Molotov cocktails were also discovered in a vehicle. By evening, the police had arrested 52 people – four for illegal possession of weapons and 47 for violating the night curfew, which came into force at 6 p.m. local time. Half of these arrests were made on the Capitol grounds.

The attack on the Capitol took place after the incumbent US President Donald Trump made an appearance in front of his supporters and encouraged them to march to the parliamentary seat – albeit peacefully. There Congress should certify the results of the presidential election, in which Trump was defeated by the Democrat Joe Biden. Trump claims he was robbed of victory by massive election fraud. There is no evidence of this.
