Au: Two pedestrians seriously injured after a collision with a car
dho. On Wednesday evening (17 August), a 41-year-old driver hit two elderly pedestrians on the street in Au near Wädenswil. The 77-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife were crossing the street when the vehicle struck them. According to the canton police, they were thrown to the ground and seriously injured.
The couple had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance after receiving first aid. Because of the accident, the old country road in the area of the accident site was closed for more than three hours.
Uitikon-Waldegg: Two people arrested on suspicion of a speeding offense
dho. The Zurich cantonal police arrested the driver and the passenger on suspicion of a speeding offense after a traffic accident in Uitikon-Waldegg early on Wednesday morning (17 August).
According to the canton police, the 27-year-old driver lost control of his powerful vehicle on Birmensdorferstrasse, spun over the sidewalk and crashed violently into the facade of a commercial property.

When the rescue workers arrived, the occupants of the vehicle left the scene of the accident, the canton police write. While the 26-year-old Swiss passenger could be found not far from the scene of the accident, the driver had to be visited at his place of residence.
Both were arrested on suspicion of a speeding offence. The public prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample from the 27-year-old. The passenger had to be taken to a hospital in an ambulance to be checked.
