The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series features incredible jumps. At the weekend the event stops in Polignano a Mare.

Anyone who has ever visited Polignano a Mare will never forget this sight: the picturesque little town in the province of Apulia lies on cliffs about 25 meters high, directly on the green-blue, clear sea. Thanks to this spectacular location, Polignano a Mare is also the venue for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series cliff diving championships.

This weekend (July 1st and 2nd), the international event, supported by the Xiaomi Redmi Note series, is stopping in the small Italian town. The event features numerous athletes, including Cãtãlin Preda, a regular at the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, and German talent Iris Schmidbauer ready to jump from a platform positioned 27 meters above Italy’s most famous cliff.

Three new stages for the event series

Polignano a Mare is the third leg of the series of events after Boston (3 June) and Paris (18 June). Four more are scheduled for this year. On August 3rd in Takachiho, (Japan), on August 19th in Stockholm (Sweden), on September 9th in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the final on November 19th in Auckland (New Zealand).

While Polignano a Mare in Puglia is already the tenth stop for the acrobats, Takachiho, Stockholm and Auckland are newcomers. The legendary bridge “Stari Most” in Mostar has already hosted three times. The bridge was destroyed in the Bosnian War in 1993 and rebuilt in 2004 with international help.

Finally, the grand finale takes place in Auckland, where the King Kahekili Trophy is awarded to the best high diver of the year.
