Politics for shooting – After animal tears: “Fire freely” on the wolves?

Canis lupus or, to put it less scientifically, the wolf causes problems. He does it for the alpine farmers, especially their sheep, but also for politics. Because Canis lupus is strictly protected, but at the same time is in the process of reclaiming ancestral habitat in the Alps.

Good advice is quite expensive, because scaring the animals doesn’t really work. Manfred Muhr and Roman Linder, the farmers’ representatives of the FPÖ, say very clearly: “Shoot them because every wolf is a problem wolf. To protect life and limb, the state government should issue a shooting order. “

In said state government, regional councilor Martin Gruber of the ÖVP is responsible. Gruber is also not a friend of wolves: “We will use every legal leeway that we have. The wolf has no business in our pastures. I am immediately ready to sign a kill notification when the authorities give the green light. “

“The wolf has to go”
In addition, according to Gruber, one could try to define pasture protection areas, similar to the one in Tyrol. “This would give us a means of being able to hunt problem wolves faster and thus to protect our alpine farmers and their grazing animals.” Even with the SPÖ farmers – yes, there should be such – the wolf has no supporters. Franz Matschek: “It must be possible to remove wolves unbureaucratically if they repeatedly kill livestock.” President Siegfried Huber: “The wolf has to go!”
