For the 50th “Polizeiruf 110” anniversary there is not only a completely new team, but also exciting repetitions and a documentary.

The 50th birthday of the “Tatort” series was celebrated last year with a crossover double episode of the Munich and Dortmund teams. Now it’s the turn of the other Sunday thriller. For the 50th “Polizeiruf 110” anniversary, those responsible have thought of something else. To celebrate the day there is a new team in Halle / Saale, which will be introduced next Sunday with the episode “Polizeiruf 110: An der Saale hellem Strande” (May 30th, 8:15 pm, the first). But that’s not all: a documentary about the crime series and many exciting repetitions and video clips await the audience.

Originally a GDR crime thriller

The “Polizeiruf 110” series was invented in the GDR in 1971 – it was first broadcast on June 27, 1971 – and after the reunification it became part of the all-German ARD program. Although not quite as many viewers tune in as in “Tatort”, the films mostly scratch the ten million mark. This also makes them one of the most successful crime thrillers on German television. The broadcasters MDR, rbb, NDR and the BR are currently producing crime novels with these five “Polizeiruf 110” teams:

The top stars of the format with outstanding ratings and passionate fans are certainly the Rostock investigators (since 2010) around Commissioners Bukow and König (Charly Hübner, 48, and Anneke Kim Sarnau, 49). Whether it stays that way remains to be seen, because after Hübner announced his exit, the first crime thriller will be filmed without him starting today, Tuesday. “One is missing – think of you”, writes colleague Andreas Günther (47) on Instagram.

Claudia Michelsen (52) has been clarifying criminal cases in Magdeburg as Commissioner Doreen Brasch since 2013. Lucas Gregorowicz (44) has been investigating as Commissioner Adam Raczek in the border area between Brandenburg and Poland since 2015. In the autumn of this year, actor André Kaczmarczyk (born 1986) joins as a co-investigator. And the Austrian actress Verena Altenberger (33) can be seen in the Munich branch of the crime fiction format as investigator Elisabeth “Bessie” Eyckhoff. Her new case “Polizeiruf 110: Frau Schrödinger’s cat” (June 20) closes this year’s Sunday crime season before the summer break.

In the crime thriller there is also a reunion with actor Andreas Schmidt-Schaller (75), who from 1986 to 1995 in a total of 33 “police call 110” cases as first lieutenant or superintendent Thomas Grawe for the German television network (DFF), the state television the GDR, and then determined for the MDR.
