POLL – Legislative elections: 52% of French people plan to vote in opposition to the current government


Towards a new “sanction vote” against Emmanuel Macron and his government? In just over two weeks, the French are once again called to the polls for early legislative elections, following the president’s decision to dissolve the National Assembly. And according to a CSA survey for Europe 1, CNews and The Sunday Journal*, 52% of French people intend to vote in opposition to Emmanuel Macron and the current government.

Conversely, 18% of those questioned wish to show their support for the President of the Republic. 23% of respondents plan to neither support nor oppose, and 7% say they will not vote.

In detail, it is young people aged 18 to 24 who are most likely to vote in opposition to the current government team, at 62%. Only 14% of voters under 35 will vote in support of Emmanuel Macron. On the contrary, those aged 64 and over are the most numerous to wish to support the government with their vote, at 26%.

18% of Renaissance voters plan to vote in opposition to the government

Concerning the political proximity of those questioned, 60% of left-wing voters and 75% of right-wing voters will vote in opposition to the current government. Quite logically, this figure rises to 89% for voters of the National Rally, and 77% for those of La France insoumise.

In addition to supporters of the center and the presidential Renaissance party, right-wing voters are the most numerous to vote in support of Emmanuel Macron, at 25%. However, it is interesting to note that 18% of Renaissance activists plan to vote in opposition to the government.
