Poll of the week: What’s your MWC highlight?

Mobile World Congress is over. Therefore, NextPit asks you what you think of the innovations presented at the fair. Smartphones, the Metaverse or mixed reality – what excited you the most? Tell us by taking our poll of the week.

What did you particularly like at the MWC this year?

After being canceled in 2020 and the first attempt to hold a trade show amid a global pandemic scenario, this year’s MWC sought to show that the event is still relevant to the wireless industry. However, given the still low level of corporate and public participation, there were no really standout novelties in the programme, but a series of announcements that justified the Barcelona event.

Some companies, such as Motorola, preferred to present their products just before the fair. However, Huawei, Honor, Realme and Poco used the MWC as a stage to announce new devices.

Some products were previously only available in China and have now also been presented for Western markets at the MWC. The NextPit team was able to grab phones like the Honor Magic V and the OnePlus 10 Pro for first impressions.

At the fair we were able to observe the importance of virtual reality and the metaverse for the industry. A quick look into the exhibition halls was enough to get this impression. Corresponding Qualcomm banners could be seen everywhere in the halls and the stands were also dedicated to this hype.

From smartphone announcements to VR, AR and XR/MR gadgets: What was your trade fair highlight?

Does live reporting make the MWC more interesting?

We would also like to know your opinion on the content we produced on location in Barcelona. This year we were with a team at the Mobile World Congress and were therefore able to attend the events in person.

Of course, Antoine, Ben, Fabi and I adhered to all the requirements of the GSMA, which organizes the MWC. This allowed us to quickly test the new devices and record videos with our first impressions. Of course we do this for our NextPit community, which loves technology as much as we do.

This is exactly why your opinion is important to our team: Is an event like the MWC more exciting for you when journalists report directly on site? Or have you now come to terms with virtual events?

Which tech event is the most important?

Technology fairs and events drive the industry forward, making them relevant to executives, developers, journalists, and of course consumers and tech fans. It would be boring to just rely on the press releases and only recite spec sheets in the articles.

However, large events such as CES, IFA and MWC have lost importance over the years. This also has to do with the fact that companies organize their own events. Just think of Apple (WWDC), Google (Google I/O) and Samsung (Galaxy Unpacked).

In this context, we would like to hear your opinion on the most important tech events. Does your heart beat for individual events where we see the new iPhone or Galaxy smartphone, for example? Or are you more enthusiastic about technology fairs, where you can get the whole program from robots to intelligent gadgets with AI to the Metaverse? Tell us your favorites in our last question:

Personally, I really enjoyed being at the MWC again this year. This allowed me to see the product launches up close and talk to executives and colleagues about the products we love to test. How do you assess the importance of such tech events today? Take part in the survey, write us in the comments – and as always, there will be our evaluation on Monday.
