Russia is apparently firing more drones in its attack on Ukraine. According to their own statements, Ukrainian armed forces can now fend off a number of them. An oil refinery is apparently on fire in Poltava. Russia also reports drone attacks.
The Ukrainian armed forces say they destroyed 17 drones fired by Russia during the night. In total, Russia launched 24 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones, the Ukrainian General Staff said. Information about the consequences of the drone attacks was not provided.
An oil refinery was hit in a Russian attack in the central Ukrainian region of Poltava, according to the local governor. A fire broke out there and work was temporarily interrupted, Dmytro Lunin said on the Telegram online service. Apparently there are no victims.
The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Serhiy Lysak, said that the Nikopol district was attacked for the second night in a row. Several houses, cars and power lines were damaged. According to initial findings, there were no injuries, said Lysak.
Russia destroys Ukrainian drones
Russia, for its part, reported the destruction of four Ukrainian drones overnight in two regions in the west of the country. The Russian Defense Ministry said they were destroyed over the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine and over the Oryol region. It did not provide any information about possible damage or casualties.
There has been a wave of drone attacks in Russia since the Ukrainian counteroffensive began in June. A few buildings were damaged, including in the capital Moscow.
