Polyphony Digital backs down on gamers

Kazunori Yamauchi, director of GT7, announces that the game’s economy will be rebalanced soon. Several patches are planned to review the system with a first set for April.

Gran Turismo 7’s recent road trip has left its mark, but Polyphony Digital is determined to change things quickly. Kazunori Yamauchi, game director of the franchise, broke the silence on PlayStation Blog to announce some good news.

1 million Cr. for all, a first patch in April

First, Kazunori Yamauchi again apologized and offered 1 million Cr. to all players.

I would like to apologize for the frustration and confusion that was caused by our update last week., which not only crashed the servers but also resulted in adjustments to the in-game economy that were made without giving our community a clear explanation. We know this isn’t the Gran Turismo gaming experience you expect, and we will make a gesture of goodwill towards you in the form of a pack of unpurchased credits of 1 million Cr.

To recover them, you have to connect to GT7 between March 25 and April 25, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.. But that’s not enough, and the studio promises a readjustment of the rewards system for a better balance.

This project will be launched with a “considerable patch” at the beginning of the month of april which will include:

Increased rewards in World Circuits second half events by around 100% on average

Added high rewards for completing the Circuit Experience with All Gold/All Bronze results.

Increased rewards in Online Races

Inclusion of a total of 8 new one-hour Endurance Race events in Missions. These events will also give greater rewards

Increased the maximum limit of unpurchased credits in players’ wallets by 20M Cr. at 100M Cr.

Increased amount of Used and Legend cars available at all times

To be continued in GT7: sale of cars, more races…

“Between now and the end of April” according to Yamauchi-san, other patches will be put online to flesh out Gran Turismo 7 with cars, additional circuits and modifications not yet discussed.

Then, in the short term, the studio is already planning toadd more racesofincrease rewards… and FINALLY to allow virtual pilots to resell their cars :

Increase the rewards of time-limited events as we develop in live service.
Added new World Circuit events.
Added Endurance Races to Missions, including 24 hour races.
Addition of Online Time Trials and rewards depending on the time difference between the player’s time and the shortest time.
Make sure the cars can be sold.

It remains to be seen if any car will be able to be sold, or if it will only concern vehicles purchased and not those won.
