“Shrek 5” will apparently start in cinemas in 2025

A new “Shrek” film will likely be released in theaters in two years, according to a tell-tale social media post.
It seems to have been clear since April of this year that the popular “Shrek” film series will be continued. Because reported back then The US industry magazine “Variety” is talking about a planned sequel to the most recently released “Shrek Forever After” (2010), for which the original speakers around Mike Myers (lends his voice to the title character in the English original), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona ) and Eddie Murphy (Donkey) should return. But now an intern has probably unintentionally revealed the start date of “Shrek 5”.

Found on the social network LinkedIn according to TMZ an entry from a young woman who claims to have recently worked for NBCUniversal, the parent company of the DreamWorks animation studio behind the “Shrek” film series. And this entry shows that “Shrek 5” is scheduled to be released in cinemas in 2025. However, this does not yet represent an official confirmation from the production company. “TMZ” also cannot confirm whether it is an authentic screenshot.
Will “Shrek 5” be more of a reboot than a direct sequel?
“Shrek 5” will certainly be released under a different title than the one mentioned here. The film is also unlikely to be a direct sequel to “Shrek Forever After.” Because it was already clear from the “Variety” report published at the beginning of the year that DreamWorks is planning a reboot of the film series.
“It’s not that dissimilar to the process we went through with ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie,’ where you look at the core elements that audiences loved and then do your best to honor those core elements,” explained DreamWorks manager Chris Meledandri (64), who is responsible for the sequel, spoke to the US industry newspaper.
However, the original speakers around Diaz, Murphy and Co. should continue to be part of this reboot, the aim of which is, among other things, to bring along those viewers who don’t even know the first four “Shrek” films.
