MindGeek, parent company of Pornhub and YouPorn, has just lost its CEO and COO.

The online porn giant has been under heavy fire for the past few years.

Insufficient moderation

The Pornhub and YouPorn platforms are among the most visited websites in the world. Both belong to a single group, MindGeek (which also owns RedTube, Brazzers, Digital Playground…), which has been the subject of several scandals.

Recently, yet another survey conducted by The New Yorker in particular pointed to serious malfunctions in the moderation system of PornHub, which would regularly host videos of rape, or even content which would not have the consent of the protagonists concerned. The platform would also tend to host child pornography content, the fault (among other things) of inefficient and easily circumvented moderation.

MindGeek in turmoil

For some time now, PornHub has been increasing actions aimed at tightening controls on the content published on its platform, which has not prevented MindGeek from losing valuable partnerships. Millions of videos have been removed and dozens of women have also filed lawsuits in the United States against the platform, which hosted videos of sexual violence against them.

Also, in a recent press release, MindGeek announced the departures of its CEO Feras Antoon and David Tassillo, director of operations. Two departures which have not been precisely justified by the company, we just know that an interim will be put in place pending replacements, and that the two men will nevertheless remain shareholders of the company.

Let us also remember that the French director Ovidie already explained 5 years ago, in a documentary called Pornocracythat the right to be forgotten did not exist at MindGeek, and that the offices of the company were empty buildings intended to serve as a front for a mafia organization.
