Porsche is preparing an extreme Taycan to compete with the Tesla Model S Poster

Porsche is currently working on a new version of its electric car, the Taycan. It could carry three motors and display a power of 1,000 horsepower, in order to overshadow the Tesla Model S Plaid. A kind of Porsche Taycan GT.

The Porsche Taycan has been on the market for three years now, a few months after its reveal at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Inspired by the Mission E concept unveiled in 2015, it was the brand’s very first electric model, which is available today. in many versions today. And a brand new one should soon appear, on the occasion of his mid-career.

A more extreme version

Today, the electric sedan is the fastest electric car on the Nürburgring, lapping the Nordschleife in just 7 minutes, 33 seconds and 35 hundredths. A record for the category, which notably allowed it to outstrip Tesla and its radical Model S Plaid, yet strong of 1,020 horsepower, by only 2 seconds.

But this is still not enough for the German brand, which wants to go even further. As the site’s journalists explain Auto-Express, it would be preparing an even more efficient version. It would then be equipped with not two but three electric motors, allowing it to display a power of approximately 1,000 horsepower.

For the time being, the only electric model from the Stuttgart firm is limited to 625 horsepower in its Turbo S version covering the range. A power which can however increase to 761 horses for a few seconds during acceleration, while the torque is displayed at 1,050 Nm. The 0 to 100 km/h is then achieved in just 2.8 seconds.

This new variant should therefore considerably improve these figures and allow the German sedan to go hunting on the land of its American rival. As a reminder, it accelerates to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds! But this even more radical variation of the Taycan should also be accompanied by some technical improvements, with the arrival of an even more efficient torque management system thanks to its three engines.

A few small improvements

Arrived at mid-career, the Porsche Taycan should also benefit from other improvements. Auto Express points out that the sedan could notably benefit from revised adaptive suspensions and a better calibrated rear-wheel steering system.

If nothing has been mentioned regarding the autonomy of this next version, we remember that a remote OTA update was sent to the models currently in circulation in July, allowing it to travel 50 kilometers more in a single charge according to the WLTP cycle.

This development also allows drivers to benefit from better battery conditioning and a navigation system offering new functions. As a reminder, the Porsche Taycan can travel between 407 and 512 kilometers in a single charge.

Some changes should also be made to the style of the electric sedan, while the first images of the three-motor version show a more aggressive front end, equipped with a new shield. The rear also seems to have been reworked, with its large spoiler, in the style of a GT. The driving position should remain the same, with its large 16.8-inch curved digital handset, paired with a 10.9-inch touchscreen.

For the time being, no launch date has been announced for this future supercharged version, the price of which should easily exceed the 193,061 euros requested for the Turbo S.
