Porsche outsources production of electric Porsche Cayenne to Slovakia

At the beginning of January 2023, Porsche organized its annual back-to-school conference in which it confirmed its excellent financial health and announced a target of 80% of its sales in electric form by 2030.

Taking advantage of the event, the manufacturer formalized the arrival over the next five years of 100% electric models, such as the Macan (2024), the 718 and a large luxury SUV (code name K1) that can accommodate up to seven people. Porsche also confirmed that the next Cayenne, the savior of the brand in the early 2000s, would also have its electric version.

Today (March 24), the resident of Stuttgart revealed that the fourth generation of the electric-powered Cayenne will be produced at Volkswagen’s multi-brand plant in Bratislava (Slovakia). This is also where the thermal combustion and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Cayennes are manufactured.

This generation should be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the same as the electric Macan. Even if the technical details are not yet known, we can legitimately think that the SUV will integrate an 800 V architecture for charging speeds greater than 270 kW and a battery with a capacity greater than 100 kWh.

One thing is certain, the Cayenne will receive this year “one of the most comprehensive updates in its history”. The list of changes will include a new chassis and three plug-in hybrid powertrains, designed to provide greater range in electric mode.
