Porsche unveils Mission X, a concept car that could become the fastest car in the world


Porsche has just unveiled a new concept car dubbed Mission X. It’s the latest in a series of unique concepts, which give us a good idea of ​​what the German brand thinks about high-performance electric vehicles.

On the occasion of the celebration of 75 years of its sports cars, Porsche has lifted the veil on Mission X, a concept car giving us a glimpse of what future electric hypercars could be from the German car manufacturer.

The vehicle sports dimensions close to those of the Porsche Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder. Staggered tires, 20 inches front and 21 inches rearnot only improve aerodynamics, but above all give the impression that the Mission X is ready to leap forward as soon as the driver accelerates.

The Mission X could become the fastest car in the world

Porsche says the Mission X has a ” high performance and efficient electric powertrain », but be careful not to give an overview of the technical specifications. However, the builder is already stepping forward by promising that it could be the fastest road-legal vehicle on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Porsche also announces that its vehicle would offer a weight/power ratio of approximately 1 hp for 2.2 lbscould achieve much higher lift values ​​than the current 911 GT3 RS, offer significantly improved charging performance thanks to its 900-volt system architecture, and charge about twice as fast as the Taycan Turbo S.

Porsche specifies thatno decision has yet been made regarding the productionbut the company may well decide to manufacture the vehicle in small quantities if enough wealthy buyers show interest.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Mission X would be able to take first place on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Currently, this record is held by the Mercedes-AMG Onewhich used a version of Mercedes’ F1 powertrain and four electric motors to lap the legendary circuit in 6:35.183 minutes (50 seconds less than the Tesla Model S’s fastest lap set last week).
