Here is your favorite photo from the sixth edition of the Frandroid photo contest, on the theme of black and white.
For the sixth edition of the Frandroid photo contest, we changed the angle a bit with a more general theme: black and white.
For this contest, it didn’t matter what the subject of the photo was as long as it was captured — or retouched — in monochrome. It must be said that black and white photography has many advantages. Admittedly, the shots can look a little dated, but it can be an opportunity to highlight the lights, push the contrasts for dramatic atmospheres or focus on shadows or shapes more than on color. . It is not for nothing that many photographers continue, even in 2023, to favor this rendering or that certain manufacturers, such as Pentax or Leica, offer devices with only black and white sensors. We finally retained the pictures of Cédric, Jean Rony, Dimitri and Delphine.
Delphine came in first with the photo of zebras taken on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, above. Here is what it said then:

As the photographer Kadir Van Lohuizen points out: “ I prefer to photograph in black and white than in color. The black and white goes straight to the point. The color would have distracted the story I wanted to tell “. Photographing in black and white allows me to visualize differently in a more creative way. I used a Huawei Mate SE…for this shot, then I re-edited it in Lightroom to go back to black and white. This photo, I took it seeing how the cathedral was imposing in size, and in addition there is the statue symbol of pride for the independence of the country. A superb epic composition…Notre Dame Cathedral, icon of the city, the statue of a hero standing in a majestic square.
