Google has announced various improvements for owners of Android smartphones. Here is a summary.
In addition to improving feedback on its Messages app, Google announced a slew of Android updates to many apps.
Portrait mode for animals, plants and food
If you have a Pixel or are a Google One subscriber, you can apply Google Photos’ unique blur effect even to old snaps.
Now, this filter can be applied to other subjects, namely pets, food and even plants.
New features featured on Google TV
The Google TV application on Android includes a “Highlights” tab in its English version. It’s a safe bet that this will happen later on the French version.
What is this tab hiding? It offers a “personalized news feed”. You will find news related to shows or films that interest you, reviews or content related to them. From this tab, it is of course possible to access a file for each series or film to watch it, add it to your wishlist or start casting it.
Instant offline transcription
The Instant Transcription app is especially useful for people who are hard of hearing or have hearing loss. Until now, it required a connection to work. This should soon no longer be the case, at least in its English-language transcription version. We sincerely hope that Google considers making this option available in other languages, including French.
We also tried to transcribe a conversation in airplane mode and the application did require an internet connection to work, whether in English or French.
And others…
Among other Google announcements, we can note the upcoming addition of a widget to better track screen time. Google Assistant and Google Pay will also soon be able to work together to better manage parking tickets.
Finally, it will now be possible to share with several contacts at the same time via the nearby sharing mode.
