The 36 passengers of a tourist boat, which sank on Monday afternoon off Lagoa, in the south of Portugal, have been rescued and are out of danger, announced the National Maritime Authority.

The boat sank after taking on water while sailing about 600 meters from the coast, south of the Alfanzina lighthouse, in the municipality of Lagoa. An investigation will be opened to determine the causes of the accident.
