Germany’s EM opponent Hungary celebrates victory

Probably the most exciting thing about the international test match between Spain and Portugal is the announcement of the joint bid for the World Cup for 2030. Little happens on the pitch. The German EM group opponent Hungary did a little better in the game against Cyprus.

Spain and Germany’s group opponents Portugal left a lot of room for improvement in their penultimate EM test. The European champions of 2012 and 2016 drew 0-0 in a moderate encounter in Madrid. Before kick-off, both countries had made their joint bid for the 2030 official.

In the Atletico Stadium Wanda Metropolitano, Portugal was closer to a goal overall. At the best opportunity, Diogo Jota headed just over the gate after a cross from Cristiano Ronaldo (60th). Portugal are second German opponents in Group F on June 19 in Munich.

Aymeric Laporte played his first game for Spain. The 27-year-old Manchester City defender made 51 junior internationals for France and has been a Spanish citizen since May. Both teams will play one more game before the finals: Spain will face Lithuania on Tuesday, Portugal against Israel on Wednesday.

Hungary unbeaten in ten games

At the European Championships, Spain will meet Sweden in Group E on June 14th. On June 19, Poland will be the second opponent for world footballer Robert Lewandowski, on June 23 it will be against Slovakia. All three games will take place in Seville. Portugal are second German opponents in Group F on June 19 in Munich. Other opponents of the European champions in the fight for the round of 16 tickets are outsiders Hungary (June 15) and world champions France (June 23).

The four-time soccer world champion Italy also impressively mastered its last European Championship test. The team of national coach Roberto Mancini easily defeated European Championship participants Czech Republic in Bologna with 4: 0 (2: 0). For the Squadra Azzurra, unbeaten in 27 games since September 2018, it was the eighth straight-to-zero victory. The goals were scored by ex-Dortmund’s Ciro Immobile (23rd), Nicolo Barella (42nd), Lorenzo Insigne (66th) and Domenico Berardi (73rd). At the European Championship, Italy fights in the opening game against Turkey (June 11) as well as against Switzerland (June 16) and Wales (June 20) for a place in the knockout round.

It was not that easy for Germany’s group opponent Hungary, who just won his penultimate European Championship test. Coach Marco Rossi’s team defeated Cyprus 1-0 (1-0) and has now been undefeated for ten games. On Tuesday, Hungary will also receive Ireland for the EM dress rehearsal in Budapest. Andras Schäfer (36th) scored his first goal for the national team. Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi was the only Bundesliga professional in the starting line-up.

Outsider Hungary will be the last German opponent in the “death group” F with world champion France and defending champion Portugal on June 23 in Munich.
