Positive test as false alarm: Weidel has not become infected again

Positive test as a false positive
Weidel did not become infected again

Alice Weidel only contracted Covid-19 in November. She said she was not vaccinated. Now another corona test by the AfD parliamentary group leader is positive. A second test now brings the all-clear.

AfD parliamentary group leader Alice Weidel has tested positive for the corona virus according to her own statements. The 42-year-old wrote on Twitter: “Because of a positive corona test, I was unfortunately unable to take part in the important vote in the Bundestag today. I will submit a second test today for verification.” A few hours later she announced on Twitter: “False alarm”. The result of a second PCR test is “fortunately negative”.

Weidel said he had already been infected with the corona virus. A month ago, she had gone into quarantine at home after having previously diagnosed “flu-like symptoms” and undergoing a test, according to her spokesman. In the federal election campaign, Weidel complained about restrictions on fundamental rights to contain the pandemic, always emphasizing that she had not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The AfD considers the state measures to contain the corona pandemic to be excessive and rejects compulsory vaccination. “The AfD parliamentary group will oppose any mandatory vaccination,” Weidel tweeted earlier this month. The Bundestag decided on Friday that the traffic light parties made it compulsory for employees in clinics and care facilities to be vaccinated.
