PostNL: 2022 earnings forecast revised downwards

(CercleFinance.com) – PostNL fell sharply on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange on Monday after lowering its operating profit forecast for the 2022 financial year.

The title of the Dutch postal group is currently yielding more than 12%, which brings its decline since the start of the year to more than 20%.

PostNL reported this morning an operating profit (Ebit) down 75% for the first quarter, to 33 million euros against 130 million a year earlier, a performance below the consensus which targeted 41 million.

Its turnover fell by 16% to 806 million euros, a figure again below the consensus of 846 million euros.

Following these worse-than-expected results, PostNL now expects its operating profit to be between 170 and 210 million euros this year, below the range of 210-240 million euros it had previously given itself. .

‘These changes are driven by cost pressures and reduced volume visibility,’ UBS analysts said in a reaction note.
