- If you switch health insurance companies, compulsory basic insurance could become cheaper for many in the next year.
- The average savings potential is CHF 428 per person per year.
- This is the result of a study by the online comparison service Moneyland.
Moneyland writes that if all Swiss people switch to the health insurance company that is cheapest for them, they could save around CHF 3.7 billion in premiums. In fact, however, less than ten percent of the insured should actually change the fund, according to the comparison service.
Higher savings potential than in previous years
According to the study, the savings potential through a change of supplier and model for the coming year will be higher than in previous years. Young adults can save the most, on average 529 francs. For children it is 215 francs.
Broken down by canton, the potential savings are greatest in Ticino at CHF 612. The people of Ticino will suffer from an above-average increase in premiums in 2023. You could cushion this with a change of insurer.
The average savings potential by changing health insurance for adults is lowest in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden with 257 francs per person and year, followed by the canton of Uri with 295 francs. A lot of money can also be saved by changing the model within a health insurance company, according to Moneyland.
