Pound rises, FTSE falls as Truss outlines energy plan

Britain’s FTSE 250 midcap index hit a session low when Truss spoke, and was down 0.15% by midday. The blue-chip FTSE 100 index was little changed, up 0.2% by midday.

Britain’s new leader Liz Truss capped soaring consumer energy bills for two years on Thursday as part of a package of measures to limit the economic shock from the war in Ukraine that could cost the country around 150 billion pounds ($172 billion).
