PowerToys welcomes a new update that offers a welcome facelift to two essential tools.
The PowerToys version 0.74.0 update mainly brings fixes and stability improvements on the program, but also improves the interface of two important tools of this essential suite of utilities for Windows 10 and 11. The release note tells us that Text Extractorwhich you can summon via the shortcut Win + Shift + T, is now in version 2.0, and benefits from a new interface. The overlay screen has been modified, and above all, the toolbar offers more options. This now offers buttons allowing access to the functions “Show the result in a single line” (make result a single line), “Organize text recognition in a table” (OCR text as table).
Note also that PowerToys volunteer developers have improved the stability of FancyZones, the tool that allows you to reorganize your applications in one click. This now looks good more flexible than anchor arrangements offered natively in Windows 11.

PowerToys version 0.74.0 offers a number of improvements invisible to the naked eye, but which change the user experience. Here is a non-exhaustive list :
- If you have disabled animations in Windows 11, PowerToys now respects this setting, no need to change it manually in the software settings
- in the Color Pickerafter selecting a new color, in the editor, the history scrolls until the new color is visible
- In Crop and lockfixed a cropping and locking issue that occurred when attempting to reparent a window caused the target application to crash, an error message is displayed instead.
- THE File Explorer Extensions now use fewer resources when creating an SVG file preview
- fixed a bug that caused it to crash Locksmith file
- in Mouse Utilities > Find My Mouse, added a new activation method
