Powerpuff Girls: Superhero girls return with live action series

A very special superhero troupe will soon be on duty for the US broadcaster The CW. The "Powerpuff Girls" get a live action series.

In addition to a film, a cartoon reboot and an anime version, there will soon also be a new live action series from the "Powerpuff Girls" universe. This is reported by the US industry portal "Deadline". But that's not the only reason why the little cartoon superheroes will look significantly different than before.

Everything will be different

Although they're only just starting kindergarten, Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles are originally constantly busy saving the city of Townsville from monsters and other dangers. According to the report, they should be grown up in the live-action reboot. A series is planned about disaffected superheroes in their twenties, who hate to have spent their childhood only fighting crime. As new dangers lurk, they obviously have to pull themselves together again.

The series is said to be in the development phase, but it is not yet known who could take on the roles of Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles. Writer Diablo Cody (42, "Juno") and Heather Regnier ("Veronica Mars") are responsible for the scripts, who will also appear as executive producers.
