It’s time again for a new tool in Microsoft Power Toys for Windows. With version 0.53.1 “Always on Top” is added.
Microsoft offers the PowerToys in the new version 0.53.1 for Windows 10/11 for download. The number of helpers is growing again with the new version. The tool “Always on Top” is added. This allows you to specify that any Windows window should always be displayed on top of all other open windows. So it’s a handy new utility!
Always on Top (in the German version of Powertoys the tool is called “Always in the foreground”) is activated with Windows key + Ctrl + T. A signal sounds and the currently active window is then always shown in the foreground until the key combination is pressed again. In addition, the frame of the window is colored light blue.
The contour color for the windows can be changed in the Powertoys settings. Likewise the tone that sounds when you press the hotkey. In the “Excluded apps” area, you can also add applications for which the “Always on top” function must not be activated.

With the new version 0.53.1 there are also many minor bug fixes and improvements. For example, the auto update function has been improved. In addition, G-Code support is added to the file explorer preview pane and thumbnails and there is a new web search plug-in for PowerToys Run.
