Indeed, the 73-year-old journalist is the father of seven children. The first six of them were born from his former relationship with Véronique Courcoux whom he married in April 1971 before divorcing in 2010. These are Dorothée born in 1963, Arnaud born in 1972, Tiphaine born in 1974, of Solenn born in 1975, of Garance stillborn in 1980, and of Morgane born in 1981. Her last child who is named François, was born in 1995 from his former romance with Claire Chazal.
Three of Patrick Poivre d'Arvor's children have died. Tiphaine was a victim of sudden infant death syndrome in 1975. Twenty years later, her daughter Solenne, who suffered from anorexia nervosa, committed suicide at the age of 19. "Thanks for everything, but I don't like life", she wrote in a heartbreaking farewell letter to her father. Then, in 1980, his ex-wife gave birth to Garance, a stillborn baby. This secret around his son François
It was in August 2005 through his work entitled Confessions (Éditions Fayard) that Patrick Poivre d'Arvor has officially confirmed to be the father of François, son of Claire Chazal.
