The reasons for the extended deadlines are the upcoming shopping events and Christmas. Singles Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming up on November 11th, 25th and 28th. With the new regulation, Christmas gifts bought early can still be exchanged after the festival.
The new deadlines apply to items purchased directly from Amazon or a commercial marketplace seller. Normally the return period at Amazon is 30 days.
