Pradié, the youngster who upsets Sarko

By Édouard Roux, special envoy to Cahors

Secretary general of LR, the deputy is campaigning in the Lot. Without waiting for his re-election, this ambitious 36-year-old criticizes his elders and announces that he wants to take the presidency of the party.

His white 4L speeds through Cahors like a galloping mule. The steering wheel squeals every time he turns it, the windows open manually, he’s had the seat belts removed in the back. Sunglasses, white shirt and pants, singsong accent, willingly spoof, Aurélien Pradié is the relaxed and explosive type: “The 4L is mine, I declared it to my heritage as a deputy. For me, it’s the car of freedom. The sunroof is to put my surfboard. In 2008, already, he traveled alone through his town on a Mobylette for the cantonals. Rebelote for the municipal elections in 2014, driving his Méhari. Because Aurélien Pradié is a “loner”, as he calls himself. The policy came early, at 16, when his father became paraplegic after a stroke: “I started on my own, I had no one to guide me, to help me, nothing. But now I know it’s a strength. I wanted to get involved when I saw the loneliness that comes with disability.

From then on, he decided to put his life at the service of two causes: disability and domestic violence. He will congratulate himself, during a municipal council in Castelfranc in front of elected representatives of the left, for having “had the support of the socialists and the rebellious to pass [sa] domestic violence law. Much appreciated in this land of the left, as evidenced by the people who constantly greet him – including yellow vests -, Pradié is a local guy. He slays the “feathered hats”, the “traitors”, the “parachuted with their political label on the forehead”, “Auntie Carole [Delga]and made the slogan “deputy of all Lotois” his compass. If a poll carried out between the two rounds of the presidential election places him in first position in the first round in his constituency, the deputy welcomes the work on the ground. He castigates identity talk – “some told me in the party that I was a socialist” – and the “metapolitics that only talks about identity, never about people’s problems…”

Aurélien Pradié took the lead of an astonishing anti-Sarkozy crusade

Criticism of those he considers professional politicians, Aurélien Pradié has taken the lead in an astonishing anti-Sarkozy crusade. Of the ex, he says: “Nicolas Sarkozy? I became interested in this during the debate on double jeopardy. He had been brave in bearing this moral subject. I admired him, but we don’t always agree. I think he respects me because I say things. He did not call me after my remarks in “Le Point”… [incitant à “rompre avec le sarkozysme”]. The deputy remembers the frank discussions – even muscular – with the former head of state during the campaign, some of which left him with vivid memories. So much so that the violence returned from “Sarko”, he no longer understands it, and refuses submission: “I have not always accepted the chocolates he offers in his office. It’s rare ! Sometimes we are afraid of the chef, I don’t give a damn. »

This ambitious thinks of the presidency of LR, “so that the party carries youth, that it interests young people”, he assumes. Close to the deputies of the young guard – “Pierre-Henri Dumont is a friend” – he counts on the support of his “father in politics”, Christian Jacob, and of Gérard Larcher, the wise man, whom he respects. While waiting for the post-election, which will be hot at LR, the Lotois deputy is making his way. He has already knocked on 1,000 doors and expects 10,000 visits. Back to the wall, he plays big with this campaign, but seems confident. The left is divided and the Renaissance candidate could throw in the towel.
