Pre-opening Paris: the CAC 40 has increased by 16.40% since January 1, before the last session of the year

THE TREND

(Boursier.com) — With the low volumes announced for this last session of the year and the drop in the CAC 40 recorded yesterday, it seems complicated for the Parisian index to reach its historic highs of Thursday, December 14, at 7,653 .99 points. There is a slight hope of seeing it close with a bang above its closing record of last December 15 at 7,596.91 points… This morning, it is expected to be in the green.

Volumes are therefore expected to remain low while the majority of operators are on vacation and investors close their positions before the end of the year. The CAC 40 has increased by 16.40% since January 1, at yesterday’s close. In the absence of major indicators or interventions from monetary policy makers in recent days, markets continue to bet on an upcoming rate cut by the Federal Reserve in the United States, which would benefit risky assets.

WALL STREET

Wall Street was very close to its peaks on Thursday, with the S&P 500 gaining another 0.04% to 4,783 pts, after having established a new record during the session, and the Nasdaq stagnating at 15,095 pts (-0.03%), against an increase of 0.14% in the Dow Jones to 37,710 pts. The American rating therefore once again demonstrated great firmness on the eve of the last session of the year after eight weeks of non-stop gains.
