Samsung divided the Galaxy Watch 4 into a standard and a classic model. With the Galaxy Watch 5, the “Classic” now becomes a “Pro”. But not only the name has changed, the design of the 45 mm Pro model has also been fundamentally revised compared to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The smartwatch now has a housing edge that extends over the display, which is intended to better protect the watch during sporting activities.
In addition, Samsung has dispensed with the previously used rotating bezel. Samsung explicitly markets the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro as an outdoor sports smartwatch.
The standard variant, which is available in sizes 40 and 44 mm, has a slightly more subtle design and is visually reminiscent of the previous model
It is exciting that the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro should have a 60 percent longer battery life than the Galaxy Watch 4 and can last 20 hours even with activated GPS.
The watches are charged wirelessly, either via the included charging cradle or a Samsung phone that supports wireless charging.

Our assessment:
The battery life in particular is still a real annoyance with many smartwatches. If Samsung’s promises come true here, it could be a real step forward. It’s a pity that Samsung has left out the bezel – so far this has been a visual highlight and also a practical feature. In terms of equipment, the smartwatch offers everything you would expect from a smart watch. However, it should be noted that the range of functions is somewhat limited if you do not own a Samsung smartphone. These functions include the ECG and the blood pressure measurement function.
