If “Prey”, a new installment in the “Predator” franchise, is self-sufficient, is a sequel possible? Director Dan Trachtenberg responds.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Prey transposes the Predator almost three centuries before the events of the very first film, released in 1987. This time, the alien arrives at the beginning of the 18th century and faces the Comanches, an indigenous people of America. Against the advice of her family and the men of her tribe, Naru (Amber Midthunder) will cross paths with the creature that will make her a true warrior.
Unlike many current blockbusters, Prey doesn’t really have a post-credits scene. The film was also thought of as a single component, which is self-sufficient. However, you have to pay attention to the end credits. Many prehistoric paintings are visible and one of them announces that, despite the defeat of the Predator, other monsters will return to take revenge.
In an interview directed by a journalist from the site ComicBookMovie.com, the director explains that this clue in the end credits “leaves a door open to different kinds of possible outcomes”. He pursues : “I don’t know if we’re ready to talk about what we want to do next, but I think there are a lot of great opportunities.”
For her part, producer Jhane Myers adds that she would like to return to this universe. “I would love to return to any world where there is room for Indigenous inclusion and representation because that is my world.”
At this point, it’s a safe bet that the studio is waiting to hear official numbers from Prey before launching the project of a sequel in production. On Disney+, the film is available in full in the Comanche language.
