Schlecker children probably released from custody

The children of drugstore founder Anton Schlecker are sentenced to prison terms for breach of trust and the delay in bankruptcy. In the meantime, the two should be free again. Months before the end of their actual sentence.

According to a media report, the children of the insolvent drugstore founder Anton Schlecker were released early from prison. As the “Berlin newspaper“reports citing the Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office, Lars and Meike Schlecker have been at large for a few weeks. The two of them began their sentences in Berlin in the summer of 2019.

The Schlecker drugstore chain slipped into bankruptcy in 2012. Thousands of employees lost their jobs at that time. Lars and Meike Schlecker were subsequently sentenced to two and a half years in prison for infidelity and bankruptcy delay. Founder Anton Schlecker received a suspended sentence and a fine.

According to the “Berliner Zeitung”, Lars Schlecker was in the Berlin-Hakenfelde prison and in between worked in a social department store in the Reinickendorf district. Because of the corona pandemic, he was apparently allowed to serve part of the prison sentence at home. Sister Meike Schlecker was in the open prison for women in Berlin-Reinickendorf. According to the paper, it is unclear why the siblings were serving their sentences in Berlin.

It is also unclear whether the remaining months of her prison sentence were suspended. According to the newspaper, it could have played a role that Meike and Lars Schlecker were in prison for the first time and apparently have good social prognoses.
