This afternoon, Arsenal won on the pitch at Old Trafford against Manchester United (0 – 1) in a purely tactical match. Opposed to a completely disorganized Mancunian team, the Gunners were able to find the fault and take advantage of a placement error from Casemiro to open the scoring thanks to Leandro Trossard, served by Kai Havertz. The Red Devils are moving further and further away from a place in Europe while Arsenal (86 points) temporarily regains the lead in the championship ahead of Manchester City (85 points) who benefit from a game in hand. On Wednesday, Erik Ten Hag’s men will have to win against Newcastle, a direct competitor for the European places. For their part, Arsenal will have to pray that their sworn enemy Tottenham will bring down the Citizens who will travel to London on Tuesday evening.
