Masters Manchester City surprisingly suffered a setback in the Premier League at the end of the year. The team with Manuel Akanji in the starting XI had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Everton. Erling Haaland (24′) gave Man City the lead with his 21st goal in 15 Premier League games, but Demarai Gray (64′) equalized with a remarkable flick.

Arsenal soon profited from this mistake. The leader with Granit Xhaka won 4-2 in Brighton and extended his lead over the “Skyblues” to 7 points.

Rashford brings victory

The table-3. Like ManCity, Newcastle did not get beyond a draw with Fabian Schär and played 0-0 at home against Leeds.

Manchester United, on the other hand, continued its upward trend: The team won 1-0 at basement child Wolverhampton Wanderers and celebrated 5 wins in a row for the first time in a year and a half. Edeljoker Marcus Rashford scored the winning goal in the 76th minute. Before the ball rolled, loud applause erupted from the stands in the stadiums in memory of football legend Pelé.
