Adobe has unveiled many new features for its software dedicated to video. Premiere Pro now benefits from better management of text-based editing, as well as automatic reduction of captured noise.
At the IBC show taking place this week in Amsterdam, Adobe unveiled several new features based on artificial intelligence aimed at improving the experience of its various video software. On the program, new features for Premiere Pro, but also After Effects and Frame.io.
Alongside DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro is one of the most widely used video editing software in the world, both by amateurs and professionals, including in film studios. However, the software still failed, for many users, by its lack of stability and its particularly demanding performance. Adobe notably took advantage of the IBC show to announce an optimization of the management of timeline, with performance multiplied by five according to the publisher. Another comfortable new feature, the colorimetry panel appears to encourage editors to do their grading directly in Premiere Pro, without going through DaVinci Resolve as has been done more and more in recent years.
Ambient noise reduction integrated directly into Premiere Pro
But the main new feature announced by Adobe for Premiere Pro concerns the “ text-based editing “. As a reminder, this function will allow Premiere Pro to automatically transcribe all the dialogues of a video and allow the editor to select, copy, delete words on the transcription in order to edit them directly. Announced last April, this function is now enriched to allow, in addition to the automatic deletion of all silences — transcribed in the text by […] — also remove filler words like “ uh “.
Adobe Premiere Pro also improves the sound quality captured by certain microphones thanks to a dedicated algorithm. Enough to enjoy deeper voices with less echo if you had to fall back on your camera’s internal microphone. This same function can also remove background noise from the voice.
New features for After Effects and Frame.io
As for After Effects, Adobe has unveiled a new 3D engine to directly manage its 3D objects from its software. It will also be possible to add environmental lights based on studio environments. Rotoscoping, allowing you to select a moving subject while following it, has also been improved thanks to AI: from now on, it will be enough to select the elements at once, making them the overall skeleton, so that they are kept in selection for the entire sequence.
For its part, Frame.io is also entitled to some new features. The solution for saving files in the cloud – and automatic file transfer – will now make it possible to compare several versions of the same file, for photos as well as for PDFs or PSDs. An offer dedicated to companies with their own storage solution via Amazon Web Services (AWS) will also be launched, with more cloud services offered from next year.
All these new features regarding Adobe video solutions are available in beta from this Wednesday. They will be proposed in final version during the fall.
