Prepare ginger tea: It's that easy

Ginger tea is the perfect drink for cold days, because it strengthens our immune system and promotes the metabolism. We explain how you can prepare ginger tea.

Ingredients for a cup of ginger tea:

  • 1 piece of organic ginger (approx. 1 cm)
  • 250 ml of water
  • 1-2 sprigs of mint
  • honey if necessary

Ginger tea: this is how it works

  1. First you should wash the tuber and, if necessary, peel the ginger. This works, for example, with a potato peeler, but you can also scrape the peel off with a spoon. Peeling is not absolutely necessary, because there are a lot of nutrients under the skin – but if you leave the peel on, you should definitely use organic ginger.
  2. Cut the fresh ginger into thin slices and avoids using large pieces for the tea: The healthy ingredients of the tuber only unfold when the ginger is cut, so the following applies: the more cut surface, the better.
  3. Put the slices in a cup, heat the water and then pour it boiling over the ginger. Mint gives the ginger tea a special aroma, you can sweeten it with a little honey.
  4. Let the tea steep for five to ten minutes before removing the ginger. The longer the tubers stay in the hot water, the hotter the ginger tea tastes. If it has become too strong, you can neutralize it with a little lemon juice.
