Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, has specific ideas about the direction that Toy Story 5, currently in early development, could take. Although plot details are still unknown, the actor suggested an interesting concept during an interview with The Movie Dweeb on YouTube, where he was promoting season 2 of The Santa Clauses. A film that promises great success for Disney?
Toy Story 5, it will make you cry
According to Allen, one idea would be to come full circle by following an adult Andy. He imagines Andy going on a mission to find and restore the lost toys in order to pass them on to his son, thus restarting the entire story. Allen explains:
What if the whole story unfolded through… Andy is who’s an adult, has kids… They come across a toy for sale online, and the kid says, “Have you seen this toy before?” And Andy goes looking for all the toys. He must find each of them, put them back together, bring them home, and start the whole story again with his son. What a wonderful idea to do that. Everything is seen through Andy’s eyes, because we made his life, and now he returns the favor.
As for what will actually happen in Toy Story 5, that remains unclear. It hasn’t even been officially confirmed that Tim Allen’s Buzz Lightyear and Tom Hanks’ Woody will be returning as main characters, although it has been suggested that they both will. Shortly after Toy Story 5 was announced, Allen expressed his excitement about reprising the role of Buzz on X (formerly Twitter). Tom Hanks’ brother also hinted that his brother would be returning to play Woody in the next Toy Story.
Allen’s social media post read: “See you soon Woody, you are a small and strange man and you have my pity. And here we go for a number 5! To infinity and beyond !”
