“Outlander” will end with season eight. However, fans can look forward to a prequel series with “Blood of My Blood”.
The Highland saga series “Outlander” will end with the eighth season. This was announced by the broadcaster Starz. “What an incredible journey with an incredible fan base. ‘Outlander’ has officially been renewed for an eighth and final season.” it says on Twitter.
Leading actor Sam Heughan (42, Jamie Fraser) explains in a clip: “Every good story has to come to an end. It was an incredible journey.” Caitriona Balfe (43, Claire Fraser) also addresses the fans: “Thank you for being there from day one. We hope we make you proud.”
According to “TV Line” the final season of the series, which is based on the novels of the same name by Diana Gabaldon (71) and has been on the air since 2014, will consist of ten episodes. The upcoming seventh season will be 16 episodes long and is expected in the summer of 2023. Among other things, Charles Vandervaart (22) will play with William Ransom, the illegitimate son of the main character Jamie Fraser, who was previously seen in the series as a child. Izzy Meikle-Small (26) embodies the character Rachel Hunter, Joey Phillips her series brother Denzell Hunter. It is not yet known when the final season will be shown.

In addition, fans do not have to do without the “Outlander” universe entirely. Starz has officially confirmedthat the prequel “Blood of My Blood” got the green light. It tells the love story of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. “We look forward to peeling back the layers of this vibrant world to show our audience the origins of where it all began,” Starz’s Kathryn Busby said in a statement in August 2022. Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner of the original series, will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the spin-off.
