Who from Eric Ciotti, Aurélien Pradié or Bruno Retailleau will become president of the Republicans? The three candidates still have a week to convince party voters to vote for them. And if the adversaries are respectful of each other, each advocates a different vision for the future of the party.

They are still three in the race for the presidency of the Republicans. But on Sunday, there will only be one left. Eric Ciotti, Bruno Retailleau and Aurélien Pradié therefore only have a few days to convince right-wing voters. Because the uncertainty is total, the polls being prohibited for this election.

The deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes Eric Ciotti however cherishes the hope of being elected in the first round. With the support of Laurent Wauquiez and the powerful LR federations of the South, the Niçois claims his loyalty to the party and the clarity of his speech. “We must at the same time be the party of order and the party of lower taxes”, he insists during his travels.

Bring together

The unknown factor in this election is also Bruno Retailleau’s score on Sunday evening. Will his more demanding speech pay off with activists? The question remains even as the Vendéen fights to intellectually rearm the right and give himself a chance of winning in the next presidential election of 2027. “Neither the Republicans nor the French right are an objective. They are means in the service of a cause. And this cause is France”, assures the senator.

Finally, what attraction will LR voters have for the popular right, claimed by Aurélien Pradier. The one “who will speak to the cashiers of Saint-Quentin, who will speak again to our farmers, to all our young people”, he explains. And despite everyone’s ambitions, the campaign so far has been respectful. The winner will in any case have to bring together a political family that can no longer afford the luxury of division.
