Presidential 2022: Marine Le Pen forced to postpone its big meeting

LThe Omicron variant is joining the presidential campaign, to the chagrin of the candidates. Latest victim to date: Marine Le Pen. The candidate of the National Rally (RN) for the supreme election will postpone by three weeks, “because of the health situation”, the meeting initially scheduled for January 15 to launch her campaign, her press service announced on Monday January 3.

January 15, “the initial date of the launch of the home stretch of the campaign for the Presidency of the Republic”, Marine Le Pen “will make a solemn declaration in a symbolic place”, specifies his team. She will launch on this occasion “the operation” 5,000 markets “during which the candidate, her spokespersons and her activists will travel across France to meet the French,” the statement said. Marine Le Pen was to officially launch her campaign on January 15 and 16, 2022 with a “presidential convention” in Reims (Marne).

The gauges will not be respected during meetings

The RN had indicated at the end of December 2021 that it would not apply for its meetings the gauges announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex. “The question does not arise”, declared Sébastien Chenu on Europe 1, recalling that the Constitution allowed “until proved to the contrary” the holding of “political meetings and meetings without limitation”. “This does not prevent taking a number of measures” such as barrier gestures or social distancing, nevertheless specified the spokesperson for the candidate.
