Shouldn’t Culture benefit from a sovereign ministry?

I want to create a large Ministry of Culture, encompassing heritage, tourism, performing arts, arts, letters, cinema and communication.

Is cinema necessarily a political art? What inspires you about the recovery that can be done around a work, such as “Bac Nord” recently?

I don’t believe that cinema is necessarily a political art, it can only be entertaining or appreciated for the artistic work it represents. On the other hand, I believe that the impact around a work, as was the case for Bac Nord, is useful. I would even say, fortunately, the spectators do not remain passive and seize the cinema to debate, to bring up social issues. Cinema also exists to convey messages, transcribe emotions and reflect issues and problems of society, spectators must be able to do the same.

Do cinema and series have, among other things, the vocation, in your opinion, of helping to “move the lines” on societal issues (parity, diversity, etc.)?

Cinema, like culture in general, is an art that is not just entertainment. It is also indirectly a committed art because it will highlight subjects and causes that will appeal to the viewer, however it must not go beyond this initial goal to the point of boring the viewer with a vision that is sometimes too committed. It is important that artists become aware of the weight and echo they have in society through their cultural and artistic works.
