Presidential 2022: remote duel between Marine Le Pen and Éric Zemmour by interposed meetings

The candidates Éric Zemmour and Marine Le Pen are preparing to give, almost simultaneously, two meetings this Saturday, February 5. The first opens the ball at 3 p.m. in Lille. The second is going to Reims where she will speak from 6 p.m.

Everyone will try to establish a dynamic in their favor. And to rule out the rivals: Valérie Pécresse for the Reconquest candidate, Emmanuel Macron for the leader of the National Rally (RN).

While the campaign is still suspended from the announcement of Emmanuel Macron’s candidacy, Marine Le Pen is still in second position in the polls, just ahead of Valérie Pécresse. Éric Zemmour is still in fourth position.

“Efficiency and serenity”

Despite the departure of three MEPs and regional advisers for the camp of her adversary, Marine Le Pen affirms it: the time is for “efficiency and serenity”.

In an interview with Le Figaro on February 3, the candidate criticized her rival for “attracting sulphurous characters” from the former National Front: “traditionalist Catholics, pagans and a few Nazis”.

“Weary of noise and fury”, the RN candidate now wants to insist on “concrete solutions” during her convention in Reims, where she expects 3,000 activists.

A video message of support from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who had received it in the fall, could also be broadcast in Reims as a “pledge of seriousness”.

8,000 supporters of “Reconquest” in Lille

No war against Marine Le Pen on Éric Zemmour’s side. The declared candidate should focus his intervention on purchasing power – while targeting Valérie Pécresse, whose momentum initiated in December after the Republican congress seems to have frayed in January.

“It is the most fragile” among the candidates who can claim the second round, had justified the camp of Éric Zemmour, who multiplies the attacks against the president of the Île-de-France region.

At the Grand Palais in Lille, the Reconquest candidate expects nearly 8,000 supporters and hopes for a second show of force after the December 5 meeting in Villepinte, marked by violence.

Demonstrations were organized on the sidelines of the event. One at the initiative of SOS Racisme, the other of “antifa” activists. Nearly 300 members of the security forces were mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the meeting.
