Three weeks after the death of nationalist activist Yvan Colonna, following a fatal attack by a fellow prisoner in Arles, and the violent demonstrations that accompanied it, the authorities feared disturbances. Apart from a few gatherings, tags ” I Francesi fora “(“The French outside”) near the polling stations and posters bearing the image of the shepherd of Cargèse plastered on the electoral panels in Bastia and Ajaccio, it is rather the nature of the vote that has caught the attention in the island.
As in 2017, island voters favored Marine Le Pen in the first round of the presidential election. The National Rally candidate garners 28.58% of the vote in the poorest region of France…
