A few weeks before the presidential election, support for the various candidates in the race for the Elysée is displayed. This January 23, in the Journal du Dimanche, a former columnist for France 2 announced his support for Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI).
The first round of thepresidential election will take place on April 10. A few months before this election, support for announced candidates is increasing. In the Sunday newspaperthe journalist Aymeric Caronformer columnist ofWe are not in bed on France 2 and founder of the Ecological Revolution for the Living (REV) party, announced thathe would support Jean-Luc Melenchonthe candidate of France Insoumise (LFI), in the race for the Elysée.
“The camp of the left and environmentalists is a field of ruins. The candidacy of Jean-Luc Mélenchon is the only one to bring hope”, analyzes the journalist in the columns of the weekly. Aymeric Caron believes that the program of the candidate of La France Insoumise has “many convergences” with his ideas. “On the need for an anti-liberal ecology and on the break with the Fifth Republic, we find ourselves”says the former columnist of Laurent Ruquier.
The Greens did not find favor in his eyes: “For twenty years, Europe Ecologie-Les Verts got bogged down in countless political compromises, notably with the PS. The Greens still lack radicalism”, according to Aymeric Caron. The latter considers that “the line of Jadot consists in not being too radical, in going to be applauded in front of the Medef while swearing not to be anti-liberal. This soft ecology does not correspond to the need of the moment: to produce less, to pollute less.“ And to add: “To counter this, we launched our party, the Ecological Revolution for the Living (REV), four years ago, to bring a counter-discourse to EELV.”
Aymeric Caron, candidate for the next legislative elections?
The journalist also plans to stand in the next legislative elections. “Everyone must commit. We can no longer hide, he advances. Today, a REV delegation, of which I am a member, is entering the People’s Union parliament, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s campaign parliament. For the legislative elections, our REV candidates will leave under the banner of the People’s Union. The will is that of a long-term alliance“.
