Presidential 2022 Two years before the Paris-2024 Olympics, why sport remains out of the debate


Sport is everywhere. Educational tool, factor of integration, diplomatic lever, good for health, useful for productivity… there is no lack of virtues for the whole population, whatever its age. And yet, none of the candidates for the French presidential election made this cross-cutting subject a priority.

There are a few measures announced here and there, but two and a half years before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the sports movement was probably hoping for a little more. “We can consider that sport is not treated as it should,” laments André Giraud, president of the French Athletics Federation.
