Presidential 2022: Valérie Pécresse defends “the Christian roots” of Europe in a forum

“Europe without roots can only give birth to a Europe without values”, writes Valérie Pécresse in a column published this Thursday, December 23 in Le Figaro. Candidate LR in the 2022 presidential election denounces the desire of some to want to “dismiss Christmas”.

To back up her remarks, Valérie Pécresse relies on the publication of a guide written under the authority of the European Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, who, according to her, enjoins “the European institutions to no longer mention Christmas celebrations in official documents ”.

“A destructive madness” which “tramples on our values”

An ineptitude according to the candidate, who explains in this forum that “to bring the Christmas trial” while “promoting the hijab” is part of the same movement of “destructive madness” which “condemns our roots and tramples our values” .

“To recognize the Christian roots of Europe is not to betray the cause of humanity, but to serve it”, she wrote again, fearing that a “Europe without values” would thus be “open to all nihilisms. , offered to all fundamentalisms, starting with Islamist fundamentalism ”.

In the viewfinder of the president of the Ile-de-France Region? The mayors who refuse to put Christmas trees but also the unbolters of statues, but also the wokists, indigenists and green ideologists, become, according to her, “the new craftsmen of this vast enterprise of making the French feel guilty”.

Faced with this observation, the candidate LR intends to put an end to the “cancel culture”. “I want to be the president of restored French pride”, she says, wishing to transmit, especially at school, “a positive national story, serving membership rather than repentance”.

“Because French pride is the essential condition for the rallying and recovery of our country”, concludes Valérie Pécresse, in this forum, where she assures us that to “give back strength to France, we must restore French pride”. The objective that she therefore sets herself, if she is elected.
