Presidential 2022: Valérie Pécresse holds her last meeting this Sunday

Valérie Pécresse holds her last meeting before the first round of the presidential election this Sunday, April 3 at Porte de Versailles in Paris in the early afternoon.

The LR candidate chose the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Center to bring her troops together one last time. Down in the polls behind a well-established leading trio, Valérie Pécresse will try to remobilize the right-wing electorate in a symbolic place for her political family. Indeed, it was at the Parc des expositions that Jacques Chirac had formed the RPR in 1976.

It is a place that Nicolas Sarkozy also appreciates. The former head of state has however indicated that he will not be present at the meeting of Valérie Pécresse this Sunday, even if the candidate would need his support. “He chose to be in a form of distance in this campaign, which takes place in a very particular context” had explained his entourage.

Candidate LR will try to convince the French one last time, after her last meeting at the Zénith de Paris deemed “failed”. The criticisms against him related as much to the substance, for having evoked the notion of “great replacement”, as to the form. Subsequently, Valérie Pécresse had recognized that she was “more comfortable in direct dialogue with the French” and that she was more of a “maker” than a great speaker.
