Presidential and Covid: Jean Castex brought together the candidates by videoconference

Prime Minister Jean Castex gathered this Tuesday by videoconference all the candidates declared for the presidential election and the political parties represented in Parliament. The objective of this meeting was to discuss the organization of the poll so that it can take place under the best conditions despite the Covid-19 epidemic.

The exchanges lasted two hours. Everyone is worried about the progress of the campaign in this time of health crisis.

Thus, Marine Le Pen questioned the conditions for the application of teleworking to campaign employees. For his part, Eric Zemmour asked the government not to impose a gauge in the meetings.

The first secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, for his part, pleaded for the postal vote, spread over several days, and wanted the organization of more televised debates. Ian Brossat, for the PCF, demanded reimbursement of expenses related to the health situation, for example the distribution of FFP2 masks in meetings.

These exchanges preceded the first meeting of the Covid liaison committee, Friday morning, which will aim to define a health protocol for the next electoral meetings.
