Presidential: companies make promotional offers to encourage the French to vote


FlixBus, Lime or even The voice of the North say they want to fight against abstention, which promises to be strong this Sunday.

While the specter of a strong abstention hangs over the first round of the presidential election this Sunday, several companies are offering reductions or promotional offers to encourage the French to vote. FlixBus, for example, is renewing its 2017 operation this year, by reimbursing – in vouchers – the journey of voters to their polling station.

An operation limited to the first 300 requests, specifies the specialist in road passenger transport, which will be valid for the first as well as for the second round of the election (April 24). To benefit from it, the company requires a simple email with a selfie in front of its polling station, on which the stamped electoral card is visible, as well as the reservation number.

For voters whose polling station would be closer to home, Lime offers a 15-minute ride, on the two election Sundays, with the promo code “AVotéEnLime”. An operation carried out by the operator of electric bicycles and scooters in partnership with the NGO A Voted, and available in the cities where Lime is present (Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Le Havre). For its part, the operator of electric scooters Bird has launched the promotional code ELYSEE2022, which entitles you to a free ride up to five euros.

In the press sector, The voice of the North wishes to encourage young people to vote, which is the category of the population that has historically been the most abstentionist. The northern regional daily offers a free subscription to the digital version of the newspaper, for six months, to young people under 25 going to the polls for the first time. “And if the operation works with young people, we may extend it for the legislative elections.», explains to Figaro Stéphanie Zorn, deputy editor of the daily.
