Presidential election in Brazil: arrests for electoral fraud

The elections in Brazil are overshadowed by several cases of attempted vote rigging.

(dpa) Ahead of the presidential elections in Brazil, 34 people were arrested in the Latin American country for attempted vote rigging. In addition, three million reais (around CHF 548,000) were confiscated during the operation that has been running since last Monday, as the Ministry of Justice announced on Saturday. On Saturday alone, the day before the first round of voting, eleven suspects were arrested and 90,000 reais (around 16,000 francs) confiscated, it said. In seven cases it was an attempt to buy votes.
